Zsa Zsa Gabor, the 93-year-old actress and tabloid fixation, was in critical condition Friday following hip replacement surgery, her publicist said.

“She is still in the hospital in critical condition,” her publicist John Blanchette said. “Her husband talked to her doctors yesterday and they said that she is not responding and not communicating.”

Gabor underwent surgery following a bad fall on July 17 when she broke her hip.

Blanchette initially said the surgery “was very successful,” and would be out of Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center earlier this week.

Pakistan faced a record-breaking pursuit of 440 to win the first Test against Australia at Lord’s here on Thursday.

Australia were bowled out for 334 in their second innings at tea on the third day, with tail-ender Ben Hilfenhaus piling on the agony for Pakistan with a Test-best 56 not out.

The highest total ever scored in a fourth innings to win a Test is the 418 for seven made by the West Indies against Australia in Antigua in 2002/03.

Pakistan’s equivalent record is the 315 for nine they compiled against Australia at Karachi in 1994.

“We have postponed the talks until August 17 in order to grant legislators more time to study the draft bill and to find a solution that suits everyone concerned,” MP Robert Ghanem told AFP after the parliamentary meeting.

An Israeli patrol crossed a UN-drawn border into Lebanese territory at the disputed area of Kfar Shuba on Thursday, the Lebanese army said.

“A patrol of eight enemy (Israeli) soldiers crossed the line of withdrawal at the town of Kfar Shuba in an attempt to abduct a shepherd,” an army spokesman told AFP.

He said the shepherd had managed to escape but the troops had crossed 20 metres (22 yards) past the UN-drawn Blue Line, an informal border established after the withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon in 2000, following a 22-year presence.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad met fellow Muslim leaders at a summit in Nigeria on Thursday after branding the United States as a global dictator.

The aim of the Developing Eight (D8) summit was to improve trade among members, but issues including new sanctions against Iran over its nuclear programme could also be addressed.

Turkey’s damaged relations with Israel after a deadly raid on an aid ship bound for Gaza may also be discussed, with Turkish President Abdullah Gul among those attending.

Vitamin D is crafted to recognize people.

Vitamin D Video on Monday released a finished version of software that detects people in surveillance footage recorded by common Web cameras.

While using “webcams” to keep watch is nothing new, the California-based start-up has eliminated the need to sift through hours or days of video for portions containing folks whose activities or lack thereof may be of interest.

Surveillance webcam software that detected motion routinely vexed users with emails or alerts triggered by any motion, be it a passing bird or swaying branch. Vitamin D is crafted to recognize people.
